About the mixed class
Dru Yoga is a graceful, strong and potent form of yoga. Based on soft flowing movements, Dru Yoga works on body, mind and spirit leaving you feeling positive and empowered.

Dru comes from Dhruva Nakshatra is the Vedic name of the North (Pole) star. Dhruva means constant, still, and unchanging. The North (Pole) Star is the one that remains fixed in the sky while all other stars appear to move around it.

The North Star has been named after Dhruva, the son of King Uttanapad.

The whole idea behind Dru yoga is then to find that place of stillness within ourselves and stop paying attention to the motions that are happening around us. In other words, finding the eye of the cyclone, where we can be aware of ourselves and observe our physical, mental, and emotional states.

About the senior class
The movement classes for seniors are targeted towards people over 55 and is designed to improve balance, lifting the spirit, connecting with other people and getting the body in a better and healthier state.

Through soft and flowing, tai chi like movements, we will move the whole body and focus on the spine becoming flexible and soft.

We do gentle exercises for mobility in the pelvic floor and see how we can improve the balance through, for example, squatting exercises.

We will always adapt accordingly to your abilities and find the best way for you to improve your overall health.
About the teacher
Sietske Van Den Oord
Yoga has been a part of my life since I moved to Rotterdam when I was 19 years old.

It always felt good after a yoga class but it was never more than that. Never a deeper connection to myself and my body, just a nice way to move my body.

When I was 24 I traveled through China and practiced Tai Chi and Kung Fu for three months, 6 days a week. It was hardcore but truly amazing to see what struggles I had to go through to find the peace of mind Tai Chi and Kung Fu were bringing me.

Coming back home I tried to practise Tai Chi with other teachers but it wasn’t the same and after a while my life took different turns.
Until one day I decided to pick up yoga again and found a Dru yoga teacher. After the first lesson I knew I was going to become a Dru yoga teacher. This was the perfect combination between yoga and Tai Chi; the soft flows combined with powerful yoga postures and a journey inside through movement….

I had found my happy place. ❤️
